A flexible, atomic approach to building Haven Life's rich content marketing hub
from the client Our content program is a pivotal part of our acquisition strategy at life insurance startup Haven Life. The Studio Simpatico has worked with us on a range of projects from a complete blog redesign to tactical needs like custom content builds or tweaks to improve conversion. We are always impressed by Studio Simpatico’s thoughtful, collaborative and detail-oriented approach to projects. They act as an extension of our core team, internalizing our goals and what we need as a business.
In conjunction with their sweeping rebrand, Haven Life hired Studio Simpatico to turn their design team’s high-fidelity Sketch mockups of a new, beautiful blog design into a fully functional, responsive, custom WordPress theme. Though the blog served the team’s needs at the time, as the successful fin tech company expanded their content marketing strategy efforts, the design and marketing teams found themselves desiring more flexibility within the CMS to shape their stories visually. The in-house design team embarked on the extraordinary project of designing a large system of design components that could be mixed and matched to create more dynamic stories and narratives for their readers. They enlisted the help of Studio Simpatico to bring this system and vision to life.
To create the flexibility desired by Haven Life’s design and editorial teams, we turned to our favorite tool: the Advanced Custom Fields Pro “flexible content” builder. Working from the Haven Life’s thorough documentation and Sketch design files, we built an elegant page builder UI within WordPress to allow Haven Life’s editors to create articles by adding and reordering modules. The interface allows them substantial flexibility within each module so they can carefully and successfully shape the visual narrative of each article. In the days leading up to launch, we worked cross-functionally with the Haven Life engineering team and their external SEO firm to ensure the new blog supported all needed analytics tracking and data collection.
