The “backend” can refer to two separate things. It can refer to the part of a website that a typical visitor doesn’t see, such as the admin of a content management system or WordPress admin. It can also refer to “backend” code, such as PHP, Ruby, or .Net – typically code that deals with server manipulation, logic, and databases.
