A way to connect
Studio Simpatico was hired to extend the existing beautiful brand and design and develop a flexible blog for Serial Box to share news and content with readers.
We loved Serial Box from our first meeting: the product, the team, the brand. Serial Box, an app available in the iOS store, offers users serialized fiction — one episode released a week, Charles Dickens style. They came to us looking for a more robust solution to communicate with their loyal fan following, having outgrown their well-designed but limited Tumblr blog solution.
User Experience and Design
After an in-depth requirements meeting with their editorial team, we created a product requirements document outlining the features and functionality we proposed (along with the technical details of how we would build it). From this PRD, we began the design process. Our goal was to create a site that was responsive, information-rich, intuitive, but also visually consistent with the existing Serial Box brand.
We built the site on WordPress, using custom post types and custom taxonomies to allow their editorial team the ability to tag blog posts in a multi-dimensional way. The blog uses Disqus for commenting and integrates with their MailChimp newsletter.
